CELT AGM 2025

Updated: Mar 18

CELT Board of Directors were delighted with the great support and interest from our members and the wonderful team of CELT tutors who turned out to join us for our first AGM without our cofounder, Bob Wilson, who sadly passed away in October last year.

While we felt Bob's loss, we were greatly heartened to welcome two new people who stepped forward to join our Board of Directors, including the wonderfully creative and experienced Willow Weaver and CELT Tutor, Kate Burrows, alongside Sean Walsh, corporate expert and local business man. Please see the About page on our Team for all the updates.

If you feel you have a skill or expertise in an area and would also like to support our work, by becoming a Board Member of CELT, you are grealty welcome and encouraged to please email info@celtnet.org to express your interest and to learn more about whats involved.

We were also greatly heartened at our meeting that night, by the wish of all present to continue to work together and to support and build on Bob's amazing legacy in establishing CELT and his life long work on developing environmental education in Ireland, and on his vision and commitment in developing the nationally renown Weekend in the Hills - Festival of Tradtional Crafts, which originated in Raheen Woods in Co. Clare in 2001, but which now takes place in the beautiful surrounds of the Slieve Aughty Center, Kylebrack Co. Galway.

There was widespread agreement during the meeting to work diligently and collaboratively to continue CELT's - and Bob's - work in being innovative in meeting our aims of supporting ecoliteracy, sustainable living skills and resilience in both the individual and community, and together with our local, regional, national and international partners and funders, continue to fulfi our remit and commitment to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Nature Restoration and Native Woodland Conservation, and that of the Local and National Biodiversity and Climate Action Plans. Through devising and delivering a first classs environmental education programme with hands on, real world, nature based learning activities, we believe its more urgent than ever for all to continue to work together to advert the climate and biodiveristy crisis, learning to live in harmony with the whole commuity of life, and to support the emergence of a more regenerative culture and way of life.

Also acknowledged on the night was our gratitude to the funding and ongoing support recieved from all our partners, including that of our core funders the Irish Environmental Network through the Department of Climate and Communications and Environment.
