Gather and Tend, Honour and Mend series of workshops with our Writer in Residence, Kerri ní Dochertaigh took place over a number of weeks in Spring 2026, including Tuesday February 17th at the writers home in Co. Clare & again on Sun & 01 Mar  |  Slieve Aughty Centre in Co. Galway

CELT Writer-In-Residence Kerri ní Dochartaigh held a number of community workshops to invite members of the public  to share and record stories of the Great Forest of Aughty.

The Writer-In-Residence with Kerri ní Dochartaigh took place in parternship with the Woodland League and CELT's Nature Culture 'Writing the Land' Project with the aim to share and record stories from The Great Forest of Aughty.

Kerri posed questions for the groups to consider including -

What does the forest mean to you? Do you live within her folds? Do you tend to her through your days in a way you’d like to share? Or maybe you simply feel a deep, ancestral, life affirming love?

This gently guided workshop was open and suitable for everyone and was part of a project to pay tribute to the Great Forest of Aughty in a small publication.

The CELT Writer in Residence community workshop programme is part of the IEN funded Andrew St Ledger Award for Writing the Land - The Great Forest of Aughty collaborative creative writing project, with a focus on nature protection and restoration, and engaging environmental and forest restoration organisations and local communities in the Eachtgha - Slieve Aughty area.
