CELT, in collaboration with the Woodland League and supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, were delighted to host renown Scotish Ecologist and Environementalist Dr. Roddy Fairley.
Dr Roddy Fairley is an environmentalist with a PhD in ecology and has extensive experience in native woodland protection and restoration, alongside nature reserve management and biodiversity initiatives. He served as a director for various organizations, including Reforesting Scotland and Nature.Scot, and was involved in significant environmental projects like the Carrifran Wildwood Project.
His insights on ecological restoration and sustainability enriched and insipired local audeinces, highlighted the success possible on environmental initiatives when everyone works together with a clear vision. We are deeply grateful to Roddy for taking this time to visit us here in the West of Ireland and sharing his great knoweldge and wisdow with us on his life working with nature at a senior level and advocating for rewilding, with inisghts on the many lessons learnt.
Dr Fairley is an environmentalist who graduated in ecology from the University of Edinburgh. His studies of the below ground ecosystem led to a PhD from Aberdeen University. Following early work for the Nature Conservancy Council on various aspects of nature reserve management, survey and monitoring, Roddy went on to become a Director / Chair of Reforesting Scotland, a Director of Paths for All and a Director of the Central Scotland Forest Trust.
