What to expect from this course?

Join tutor Kate Hayes for a 2-day Felted Foraging bowl making workshop!

This weekend is not simply about producing an object. It is about learning the processes that allow something useful and meaningful to emerge from raw materials.

You will learn how sheep and alpaca wool is prepared using traditional methods. We will explore how raw wool is combed, carded by hand, and how loose fiber becomes workable material. There may also be a demonstration of spinning wool, offering insight into the wider lineage of fiber craft and how wool has historically been transformed for practical use.

Alongside this, there will be discussions and a demonstration of traditional soap making.        We will look at  natural  soap making, using the traditional  hot process method and how wood ash is used to make the lye to Saponify the natural rendered fat. This traditional style of soap making…
