About The Event
Natural materials and traditional methods will be used
The objective of the offering is to assist and support the participants to
assimilate the skills involved in making a traditional style frame drum which
our ancestors used to connect with the unknown and the anima mundi.
These instruments morphically resonate with our primal past and assist us in
making connection in the present.
Space will be made available to experiment with these ancient sounds during
the workshop.
Participants will learn about building a traditional style frame drum using
natural materials. The teaching will be hands-on, and each person will be
supported to build their own drum. The materials used: -Steam bent 14x18 inch
wooden hoop, goat or deer hide, leather, natural waxed thread, native gorse
wood and sheep wool handle, Ash wood beater and sheep wool. These materials
will be supplied. An additional cost of €95 will apply for materials
and should be paid directly to the tutor at the beginning of the weekend.
