About The Event
This one day Meitheal will give us the opportunity to share our sustainable living and permaculture skills and knowledge, and learn the basic steps and the nuts and bolts of how to design, build and manage our own back garden outdoor composting toilet, which are waste-free toilets that rely on the biological process of composting to recycle toilet material, and produce humanure.
Compost toilets can simply consist of a five-gallon bucket covered by a hinged box. Toilet instructions are simple. From this point, composting human waste (humanure) is safe and easy. However, there are a variety of ways to make a humanure toilet, over the day we aim to explore this together and build 2 outdoor structures for our community compost toilets.
