About The Event
A mostly hands-on practical day with woodland manager Ben Williams : set up of a coppice regime, cutting stems and uses of coppice materials. Coppicing is an ancient woodland management technique, almost lost in Ireland, whereby stems are cut every few years, providing craft materials and firewood. Broadleaf trees sprout new stems and have an extended life. Also good for biodiversity.
Lunch and refreshments provided.  Â
Boots/ wellies and waterproofs recommended. Â
Bring loppers, bush saw if you have them, though we will provide some.
