Musical Instrument Making
Learn how to make your own Xylophone.
Basic principles of making music will be explained.
Participants will be introduced to the safe use of tools.
Xylophones will be made by cutting keys at the correct length. Each key is tuned up by carving an arch in the middle.
A frame will be made to support all the keys. We aim to make enough keys to have an octave and a half (12 keys). Beaters will be made as well.
There will be a material charge of €20.
Cormac has been making experimental musical instruments for 14 years and plays guitar and musical glasses. He has also developed carpentry skills to create these instruments.
