End of the World Forge Building and Knife Making

 

A creative introductory course, combining the construction and use of a simple forge with traditional blacsmith techniques.

The long night has come…

The zombie hordes have descended…

The plague has spread across the globe…

Nuclear winter has arrived…

 

Whatever your favoured catastrophe you're gonna need a blade!

 

 

Through the process of this course, Tony (tutor) will endeavour to show participants just how simple it is to make something from nothing…

Over two days, discover how to forge yourself a serviceable knife out of, quite literally, a hole in the ground!

 

 

We will cover:-

 

  • Construction methods for a basic pit forge, based on 10th/11th century Irish and Scandinavian forges.

  • A short introduction to metal and the techniques used by the smith.

  • How to forge and heat treat a basic but serviceable knife with the bare minimum of tools and equipment.

  • The emphasis will be on using recycled materials and found objects also discovering how to produce your own fuel!

 

This course is open to 14 yrs+ and all skill levels and will cover two main areas of forge work.

Tony Vincent: Historical Blacksmith and Blade smith.

 

 

For participation on this course please ensure you wear natural fabrics and strong foot wear (e.g steel toe capped boots) and bring your own safety goggles + leather apron (do not worry if this is not possible we will supply all necessary safety equipment).

A small materials charge will apply (max 10 euros) payable on completion of course.
