More DAVE LOWSON R.I.P. - Sadly our good friend, CELT director and voluntary event steward / helper, Dave, died on 20th January. He had cancer and became ill in early December then rapidly went downhill though he fought hard. Many will remember Dave from his warm welcome on the gate / car park at Weekend in the Woods events. He was always cheerful, friendly and helpful and will be greatly missed. As a director he felt strongly that CELT does something useful and important that has benefitted and been a source of enjoyment to thousands of people over the years as well as being good for the environment and he insisted that we should make every effort to keep up the good work. We will always remember and be inspired by Dave and our thoughts are with his wife Liz and family.

Agroforestry Project 2011 - CELT have recently been awarded funding from Department of Environment to establish a small pilot agroforestry project in East Clare. See Agroforestry page for more info. CELT are a member of the Environmental Pillar of Social Partnership communicating directly with the government regarding environmental policy. One aspect of this is the issue of 'fracking' - hydraulic fracturing of underground shale beds to release natural gas or oil. Fracking presents some important environmental concerns regarding risk of earth tremors, gas leakage and pollution of water and air. CELT support other non-governmental environmental organisations including Friends of the Irish Environment and An Taisce in a call for fracking to be banned in Ireland because of these unacceptable risks.
